Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has released a recruitment notification for Various vacancies for Journeyman and Driver (Vehicle) posts. Candidates who have passed Class 10 and possess the prescribed ITI trade certificates or commercial driving qualifications can apply for these positions.

The recruitment has been announced under Employment Notification No. 2026/05 (J&OP). Out of the total vacancies, 55 posts are available for Journeyman across 14 different trades, while 3 vacancies are available for Driver (Vehicle). Educational Qualification :

For Journeyman Posts: Candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board and possess a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) or National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant trade. The accepted trades and equivalent qualifications differ according to the post. Candidates must check the detailed notification to confirm that their trade certificate is accepted.

For Driver (Vehicle) Posts: Applicants must have passed Class 10 and possess a valid Commercial Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) Driving Licence. A Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence is desirable. Candidates must also have at least 6 years of relevant post-qualification experience in driving light and heavy motor vehicles.

Age Limit :

The maximum age limit will be calculated as on 1 October 2026.

Journeyman: Maximum 26 Years
Driver (Vehicle): Maximum 32 Years

Age relaxation will apply to eligible SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other categories according to the prescribed rules.

Salary and Stipend Details :

Journeyman: Selected candidates will undergo two years of training. The monthly stipend will be ₹24,000 during the first year and ₹26,000 during the second year. After successful completion of training, candidates may be considered for absorption into the Semi-Skilled grade, subject to performance, vacancies and company requirements.

Driver (Vehicle): The post carries a pay scale of ₹20,110–₹70,390 under Skilled Grade-III, along with applicable allowances and benefits as per company rules.

Selection Process :

The selection process will include a written examination, practical trade test, document verification, and medical examination.

The written examination will consist of 100 objective questions carrying 100 marks, with a duration of 2 hours. The question paper will include trade-related questions and sections on general knowledge, aptitude, reasoning, and numerical ability.

Candidates applying for certain posts, including Crane Operator, Driver, Material Handling and Rigger, may also have to qualify in the prescribed Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
